Railroad work at the Ames Street crossing continues. Equipment malfunctioning has delayed the work. The work is now expected to be completed late Thursday, July 8.
CSX crews have been replacing railroad ties, re-level and resurface the railroad crossing at Ames Street and re-leveling and resurfacing the crossing at Tanktown Road. This is part of a larger maintenance project that CSX is conducting between Charlotte and Monroe over the next two weeks. Other crossings in the area will be closed at various times.
The Tanktown crossing work has been completed. Motorists are asked to avoid the Ames Street crossing while the work is underway. Signage for detours will be posted to assist motorists.
