The Town of Matthews’ Tourism Grant Application process is underway. Grants will be given to organizations who meet strict legal guidelines in regards to attracting tourism to the Town.
Matthews Tourism Grants are available to organizations in the Town who meet state law requirements by acquiring, constructing, financing, maintaining, operating, marketing, and promoting convention centers, civic centers, performing arts centers, coliseums, auditoriums, and museums.
The grants may also be used for off-street parking that would be used in conjunction with these facilities, and for tourism and tourism-related programs and activities including art and cultural programs, events, and festivals.
Past funding has been received for the Chili Cook-off Festival, baseball tournaments, Matthews Alive!, and Matthews Playhouse events, etc.
Applications are due by 4 p.m. on August 20, 2010.
