It is time to stand up and be counted. The 2010 Census surveys will start arriving in mailboxes in early March. The survey features 10 questions that will take about 10 minutes to answer. In order to be counted, residents should mail their Census surveys back by April 1.
The data collected from the Census is used to determine how many seats in the House of Representatives each state holds and to allocate more than $400 billion each year to communities for education, public health, transportation and neighborhood improvements.
It also creates a more accurate picture of our community and helps to attract new businesses and generate more jobs.
The Census has been taken every 10 years since 1790 and is used to count everyone living in the United States. All responses to the Census are confidential and Census Bureau employees with access to completed surveys are sworn to secrecy.
