Henry Snyder has been named the Town of Matthews Employee of the Year. Henry has worked for the Town for the last five years as the Code Enforcement Officer. His fellow coworkers nominated him for this honor because of his compassion for his coworkers and the citizens of the Town.

“Henry constantly demonstrates an attitude of caring and concern for the residents and employees of Matthews. He has held leadership roles on employee committees, organized food drives for non-profits in the town and so much more. No matter the situation or opportunity he always shows great professionalism in reaching a solution to the issue and it is always done with a positive demeanor and charming wit when appropriate,” said Hazen Blodgett, Town Manager of Matthews. “I enjoy my job in Code Enforcement but as a Town employee I am also able to work on projects that benefit my fellow Town employees while simultaneously making positive difference in the lives of the citizens of Matthews. I enjoy working here and being a part of this Town,” Henry said.

Henry recently announced that he will retire in June from the Town. He plans to enjoy time with his family and remain active in the community.

A native of Charlotte, Henry graduated from Pfeiffer University with a bachelor’s degree in Business Administration and attended George Washington University receiving a master’s in Project Management.  He also attended Mars Hill College and UNC at Chapel Hill. Prior to joining the Town, he retired from Compaq Computer Corporation where he worked in management. He is an active member of St. John’s Baptist Church in Charlotte. He is a member of the North Carolina Association of Zoning Officials and the past president of the Myers Park Civitan Club and the National Association of Credit Managers. Henry also served in the U.S. Army and retired at the rank of Major.
