WEB SITE HIGHLIGHTS ONLINE DOMESTIC VIOLENCE TRAINING
Charlotte community instrumental in the development of the RAVE Project for faith leaders
Charlotte, N.C. – Next Tuesday's free domestic violence Lunch and Learn program, presented by the Domestic Violence Advocacy Council, will feature the RAVE Project, an online training tool designed to help religious leaders understand domestic violence.
Dr. Nancy Nason-Clark, director of the Religion and Violence e-Learning (RAVE) Project, will present features of and updates for the site (www.theraveproject.org), including The Dating Game and connections to shelter programs all over North America. This free resource was developed at the University of New Brunswick under a Lilly Endowment grant and directed by Dr. Nason-Clark.
The Web site helps religious leaders obtain practical information that will aid in compassionate ministry to domestic violence victims, and helps educate the community on domestic violence intervention and prevention. RAVE is a nondenominational Web site that contains comprehensive, practical information that is easily accessible. Charlotte was chosen for the live worldwide launch of the Web site in 2007 because of support from local advocates and faith leaders.
The program is presented by Mecklenburg County Community Support Services Women’s Commission and its partners on the Domestic Violence Advocacy Council (DVAC).
