Mecklenburg County government offices and agencies will be closed on Friday, April 2, for Good Friday and open on a normal schedule Monday, April 5. This includes all units of the Department of Social Services, the Tax Office, Elections Office, the Register of Deeds Office, and the Land Use and Environmental Services Department.  The Department of Social Services will also be closed on Saturday, April 3.  CharMeck 311 is available 24 hours a day, and seven days a week for assistance.

Improvements to N. Trade Street and Matthews Mint Hill Road began March 9. Construction of concrete bumpouts at the southeast corner of John St. and N. Trade St. is underway. This work will continue down the south side of the street. Partial lane closures will occur during this time. The N. Trade Street project is delayed this week (March 8-12) due to weather conditions. Work will resume once the weather improves.

Milling and Paving of Matthews Mint Hill Road will begin Monday, March 15 at 9 a.m. Partial lane closures will occur. This will take two weeks - weather permitting. Motorists may want to avoid the area during this time.
