Facilities:
Matthews Community Center opened in 1907 as the Town's first public school. Over the decades, the classic brick schoolhouse was expanded to meet the demands of this growing community. When the aging building faced demolition in the 1990's, the Town of Matthews stepped in with a multi-million dollar restoration effort. Now a Charlotte-Mecklenburg Historic Landmark, the Community Center provides a vital link between Matthews' picturesque past and dynamic future.
Community Center Hours:

Saturday: 9 AM to 2 PM

Crews Road Recreation Center is the Town of Matthews' first indoor recreation center - it opened in 2006. The Recreation Center is located at 1201 Crews Rd. (behind Matthews Police Station). The Recreation Center offers a variety of programs, athletic leagues and classes to the Matthews community. Call for open gym hours.
