Four Mile Creek Greenway
*Greenway updates will be provided every two weeks*
Construction continues at Four Mile Creek Greenway despite the warm temperatures. The contractor will soon complete boardwalk construction along East John Street and will begin boardwalk construction in other areas of the project. Site grading and installation of gravel sub-base and asphalt will continue in some areas of the project along Four Mile Creek. Clearing for the greenway trail between the old town maintenance building and Four Mile Creek is complete, with trail construction underway. Please remember that this is a construction zone and is not yet open to the public.

KP Park
KP Park is our first pocket park and is located adjacent to Matthews Town Hall. A pocket park is a small outdoor space, usually no more than half an acre and serves as a passive area for people to gather, relax and enjoy the outdoors. This park will be dedicated in memory of Kay Plyler, who was a long time Town employee and the Assistant Town Manager at the time of her passing. The park will have an equestrian theme honoring Kay’s love of horses. We invite individuals and businesses to purchase a customized brick to make your mark on this great community project, in memory of Kay or in support of funding the park!
