Check out the upcoming events in Matthews! Lunch with the Easter Bunny, the Great Easter Expedition, and Photos with Mr. & Mrs. Easter Bunny
Matthews, NC – The Town of Matthews has three opportunities to celebrate Easter.
Children, ages 2-5 are invited to eat Lunch with the Easter Bunny, from 11 a.m. – 12 noon, on Friday, April 12, at the Matthews Community Center. Children will also do a fun craft and can take their photo with the Easter Bunny. Tickets are $10 per person and are available at the Matthews Community Center. Space is limited – this event will sell out.
The Great Easter Expedition will take place over three weeks in April, allowing egg hunters to get out and enjoy our town parks and greenways. Thousands of toy-filled eggs will be hidden in Stumptown, Squirrel Lake, Windsor, and Sardis parks each week, as well as along the Greenway from Trade St. to the Chesney Glen access area. There will be signs identifying the eggs in the area as part of the Great Easter Expedition. When possible, these eggs will be hidden close to each week's end, so that families can enjoy the weekends hunting for eggs. Participants can keep these toy-filled eggs. However, anyone finding one of the 12 golden eggs should bring it to the Matthews Community Center to claim an Expedition Grand Prize— a $50 VISA gift card!
Participants are encouraged to hunt for weekly eggs to fill their baskets, and then leave some for others to find. Participants should also hunt cautiously, taking care around plants, wildlife, and property. Eggs will not be hidden in dangerous spots, but hunters should also take care around rocks, creeks, and natural holes.
Photos with Mr. & Mrs. Easter Bunny will be available free of charge on Saturday April 13th from 10am-1pm at theMatthews Community Center. Bring your camera and take your annual family picture!
