We are proud to announce that on Friday, March 15, 2019, one of our own graduated from the Federal Bureau of Investigation National Academy Class # 275.  Captain Roy Sisk of the Criminal Investigations Division was part of this hand-picked group of graduates that was invited by the FBI to attend a 10-week course at their training facility in Quantico, Virginia.  The course included instruction in law, behavioral science, forensic science, understanding terrorism/terrorists’ mindsets, leadership development, communication and health/fitness.

This academy has been offered by the FBI since 1935 with attendees from all over the United States as well as from over 150 partnering nations.  Since its inception, the total number of graduates from the United States make up less than one percent of the country’s law enforcement officers.

Captain Sisk began his law enforcement career at Wingate University Police Department in 1994 as a Patrol Officer.  In 1995, he became a Patrol Officer at the Marshville Police Department where he was later promoted to Patrol Sergeant where he remained until joining the Matthews Police Department in 2003.  During his time at the Matthews Police Department, he has served as a Patrol Officer, Patrol Corporal, Patrol Sergeant, Patrol Captain and currently as the Criminal Investigations Division Captain.

“This accomplishment is something that will not only benefit Captain Sisk in his individual career, but it will also benefit our entire community as he adds more knowledge and leadership skills to the Matthews Police Department.  With that, I’m hoping our community recognizes this as our continued commitment of having the most qualified and highly trained officers from top to bottom serving them”, Matthews Police Chief Clark A. Pennington said.
