On Tuesday, August 27, 2019, at approximately 3:56 p.m., Matthews officers from the Patrol Division responded to the Walgreen’s located at 1220 Matthews Township Pkwy. regarding a report of a bomb threat.  Upon officers arrival, they were told that an unknown man had called in this threat by telephone to a store employee.

After a search of the building by officers and with the much-appreciated assistance of a CMPD Bomb Unit K-9, no incendiary devices were found.  This store has now reopened for business.

This is an ongoing investigation and anyone with information is asked to contact Detective Stacy Cooper at scooper@matthewsnc.gov or 704.847.5555.
