McKee Road Townhomes – Next door to the Windsor Run Development on McKee Road.
Eastwood Homes will soon start construction on 48 townhome units on McKee Road. The neighborhood will include community public areas and walking paths. Approved petition 2018-679
Mt. Harmony Townhomes – A new development currently under construction on Mt. Harmony Church Road and Stevens Mill Road consisting of 120 new townhomes. Approved petition 2017-674
Creek Bend- 29 single-family homesites are planned and grading has begun. There will be a connection to the future Irvin’s Creek Greenway. Approved petition 2017-661
Four Corners – Single-family subdivision under construction at Sam Newell Road and Keziah Road.
Fiorenza Properties, LLC will be developing single family residential homesites on both sides of Sam Newell Road. The neighborhood will include walking trails and a greenway connection to the future Irwins Creek Greenway. Four acres was dedicated to the Town for undisturbed open space. Eden Hall – New single-family subdivision with both townhomes and detached homes on Fullwood Lane across from Christ Covenant Church.
Eden Hall by David Weekly features linear courtyards within the development and a new greenway connection from Bubbling Well Road to Fullwood Lane. Numerous model homes are open at this time. Approved petition 2014-612; 2017-673; approved Administrative Amendment 2019
Proximity Matthews – New apartment community under construction on Monroe Road near Galleria Boulevard.
This 250-unit multifamily community will create a section of pedestrian pathway that may in time connect multiple neighborhoods. The development will have 230 apartment homes and 20 townhome rentals. Land grading is in process. Approved petition 2016-652
Bainbridge Matthews - New apartment community on Matthews-Mint Hill Road across from Moore Road.
Bainbridge will be developing 340 apartments and 6 townhome rental units off of Matthews-Mint Hill Road. The Developer will be constructing part of the Northeast Parkway extension to their property line. NCDOT will complete the extension to connect the existing Northeast Parkway. A temporary traffic signal is planned for the intersection of Moore Road and Matthews-Mint Hill. NCDOT may install a roundabout at the intersection in the future. Approved petition 2017-663
ENT Apartments – Apartment homes on Matthews-Mint Hill Road.
Proffitt Dixon have started the grading of the property that will be the home to 350 apartment units on Matthews-Mint Hill Road at the intersection of Independence Point Parkway. This will be a mixed-use development in the Entertainment District that will be developed in phases. Future commercial and office development is also planned. Approved petition 2017-664
Plantation Estates Expansion – Continuing Care Retirement Community (CCRC) on S Trade St and Fullwood Lane across from Matthews United Methodist Church.
Phase 2 of the Plantation Estates expansion continues with numerous independent living units being constructed soon. A skilled care facility is currently under construction in the original phase of the development. Approved petition 2012-589
Windsor Run –Continuing Care Retirement Community (CCRC) on McKee Rd between Weddington and Pleasant Plains Roads.
The next phase of independent living units are under construction. Full build-out, including increased care facilities will be constructed in later phases.
Lidl – At the intersection of Margaret Wallace Road and Idlewild Road.
Grading work has begun on a new grocery store at 4520 Margaret Wallace Road. Construction will include a public open space area with seating and future connectivity to undeveloped adjacent parcels. Approved petition 2016-655
Matthews Corners – NC51 at US74
Zoning revisions have been approved for this retail center, and construction is underway on the new outparcel that will face Matthews Township Parkway. The former HH Gregg building was replaced with a new 63,000 square foot Academy Sports store. Parking lot and landscaping enhancements and a new outparcel building facing Highway 51 are under construction. Tenants are to be determined. Approved petition 2017-659
Matthews Festival – US74 and NC51
Built in the late 1980s, Matthews Festival retail center facing US74 will be undergoing renovation work, with some portions of the center planned for demolition and replacement with the relocation of Texas Roadhouse. Bonefish Grill will also be relocating to Matthews Festival. Approved petition 2016-650
Liberty Commerce Center – 10800 block of Monroe Rd beside and behind Point Blank firing range
Three new establishments are underconstruction around Point Blank facilities, to include a dental office- Dentist Salud, Covenant Pediatrics, and a commercial catering kitchen- Red Radish.
